When Expo 2020 Dubai set out to capture global attention in the lead-up to its opening, we knew we needed a moment that would resonate worldwide. Enter Lionel Messi, and a bold idea: a single, powerful kick sending a football soaring into the heart of Al Wasl Plaza, the architectural crown of Expo.

Originally filmed in early 2020, the video was designed as a high-impact teaser to build excitement 10 months ahead of the event. But when the pandemic forced a global pause, we pivoted, strategically reworking the footage into a “3 Months to Go” promotional piece that reignited anticipation at just the right time.

We led the creative vision behind the piece, from developing storyboards and spatial branding, to scouting the site and planning shot compositions around an active construction zone. Every detail was considered to ensure the visual integrity of the final film. The use of FPV drone footage allowed us to capture the scale and energy of the Expo site in a dynamic, cinematic way.

By blending celebrity power, precision production planning, and bold visual storytelling, we helped deliver a moment that felt iconic, effortless and unforgettable. The final video reached over 200,000 organic viewers on YouTube and millions more across paid digital campaigns - proving that even in uncertain times, the right creative strategy can turn a challenge into a global win.
